Tino,

I don't think you will be able to do this. The HTML select tag has a
"disabled" attribute for the option tag in a select box. If you add this the
option will grey out but not all the browsers render it, Mozilla will but IE
doesn't.   IE supports it only at the select tag so the whole dropdown will
grey out.
