[Opensource] Timestamps and field default values

Hello,


is there a way to set a timestamp in a dbobject from a controller?

I mean I have a DEBObject with a created_by and creation_date fields and I
want to be able to set the creation_date field from the controller.

If not, is there a way to explicitly call the default value the RDBMS has
setup for a field, like "INSERT INTO mytable (id, value, created_by,
creation_date) values(default, 'my value', 'myuser',default)"?
