Hi All,
I've been using an 'updated' DBMaint ui in my own projects for several
weeks now that has been using a look and feel very similar to eForum.
The main features are:
- "Brighter" interface colors. Like eForum
- Roll-over top icons that highlight with the mouse over them.
- Alternating row colors in list state [css controllable]
- And most importantly: page jump navigation similar to that in eForum
Sandra has already given me some feedback that I've tried to include in the
latest prototype.
I've included 4 screenshots of this new look:
add.gif - Typical 'Add' shot
updated.gif - Showing the screen that confirms that the update finished
list1.gif - List showing what happens when there are no record in the table
list2.gif - List showing records and pagination all at mid-recordset
As I said, the UI for me has been remarkably stable. There aren't any
additional changes to the DBMaint code base itself [just jsp pages] because
I had quietly added the pagination capability several weeks ago :) So I
don't fear any regression errors that are non-jsp related.
Tonight, I've ported all the icons, jsp and javascript code over to the CVS
HEAD, but I have not checked it in. I think it's only fair to see what you
guys think. :)
Otherwise, Expresso 5.3 [was 5.1] testing is going well. Been running it
live on one site and porting it in the next couple of days to two more
sites. The Expresso code itself has shown itself remarkably faster in
several cases over the 5.0 code base, and I believe the reduced memory
usage over the long haul may help.
I'm waiting for off-list feedback from a couple of folks on a few issues,
and may have some minor work on BLOBs to do for some databases. Once I get
the results back from jobs done, I plan on releasing RC-1.
Anyway, I look forward to your feedback!

P.S. I tried to keep the attachment size down, and hope that 50K was
sufficiently small for all of you. Please let me know off-list if that was
too large so I can adjust in the future accordingly.
