[Opensource] Trouble compiling CVS

Mike,
I'd never have believed it if anyone had told me!
I'm working on a Linux box, the server where the files were placed is 
Windows NT. When you made me notice the difference was about upper- and 
lowercase letters, a light turned on: maybe it has to do with the samba 
client.
I moved the whole CVS tree into my home directory on the Linux box and 
guess what happened? It compiled without complaining! I suppose the 
problem is in the java compiler (BTW it's a 1.4.0 release, so maybe it 
has already been solved).
