[Opensource] cookies turned off.... oops, there goes the neighborhood

What is the philosophy behind Expresso and cookies turned off.  I noticed that the www.jcorporate.com site has problems and even breaks if you try eforums with cookies turned off.  I am running into my own set of problems with cookies turned off on the sites that I am building.  So are these problems oversights/bugs or is there a purposeful reason for having cookies turned off not work with Expresso?
