I use Flash, although not Flash Remoting. The basic reason is that Flash
Remoting is for calling 'remote' objects, so you would need another layer
such as EJBs or "Expresso Webservices" components AFAICT to work with
Remoting.
I can't determine your particular needs enough to really tell you which
route would be better. Raw flash will be faster than remoting if you have
the presentation layer return either XML or specially formatted text [even
faster, but you have to hand roll your own parser in ActionScript].
However, Macromedia is tying a lot of functionality to Remoting to sell
their servers, so it's difficult to say which would work for you better.
