[Opensource] What was Event, EventMail and a bunch of other stuff

Hi,

   I have been going through the Expresso Framework Site, and I have
found a couple of concepts that I don't understand. Under the Operations
menu, there is a couple of items that elude me. What do the Event and 
Event Definitions do? How does the Performance test work generally, more
specifically what values does one use?
