Mike
Thanks for the feedback.
Yes I have gotten confused by the multiple ways to do basically the same
thing. I'm still trying to sort out when to use the Struts-based tags or the
Expresso tags.
Based on your comments, I went back to rework my browse/edit page using
expresso tags. I've got it working now, but one thing that had me baffled
for a while is that it appears that when you use the
<expresso:ElementCollection "><expresso:ElementIterator> tags you have to
Iterate at every level, e.g., if you have a set of blocks (rows) and each
block has inputs, output and transitions, you have iterate the blocks and
the contained elements. I wasn't able to access the contained elements of
each block individually as I expected.
I must also say as a fairly new Expresso user, life would be a lot easier
with more comprehensive docs. The tag docs in particular are rather sparse.
A lot of my learning has been thru trail and error and error and error. Who
knew that if you wanted to have a checkbox <expresso:InputTag
type="checkbox" />, that the dbobj had to define a valid value? Spent an
hour or two on that one alone. In order to get corporate acceptance,
Expresso needs to get a lot better documented. It would be a real hard sell
in my company right now.
That said I'm forging ahead with my Expresso-based project.
