Just a word of warning with the manager application.

Be careful with the manager application as it can be invoked remotely and
you could have someone restarting your server at will (if they know what
they are doing). Either secure it correctly or delete it (a directory of
classes in Apache)from your server.

Actually, you can, but it won't work too well due to Classloading 
issues.  Usually you'll start getting LifecycleExceptions when the webapp 
restarts.

I understand that this isn't a problem under JDK 1.4, but I haven't 
verified it yet.  Go to the Apache site and check out the tomcat docs on:

manager application
server.xml

These allow you to specify autoreloading.
