I just applied your patch to CVS.  I think it's appropriate.  I've noticed 
that Expresso seems to not keep null values straight.  It's something in 
4.2 that I intend to find a way to work with.

By and large you haven't come across it because I doubt anybody's dealt 
with key fields being null.  I'm positive that Mike N. never designed any 
of the Jcorp product databases to have it.  So probably you are the first 
;)   I've put the fix in for now and we'll see what further testing shows.
